Okay Google, smooth move.

On June 12th the @madebygoogle Twitter account tweeted an official render of their next smartphone, the Google Pixel 4.

Now.

What makes this so special, you might ask. Just 1 day earlier a leak spread across the internet, an alleged render of the previously unannounced Pixel 4, and it was sporting the unreleased iPhone 11's ugly square camera module.

Everyone lost their shit and tweeted at Google, ranting and typing in full caps. The next day everyone had reduced to a simmer and prayed that this would blow over and when the phone was announced down the line it would be a nice laugh.

That night, that dreadful night, Google's twitter account tweeted 19 words, 1 hashtag, and one detrimental photo that would send every phone reviewer into a frenzy of confusion. That's right, Google leaked their own phone, because of ONE leak.

Why?

Well, to fully understand Google's outstanding move, you have to travel back to last years Google Pixel 3. First of all, the Pixel 3 leaked so many times and had so many renders of its horrifying notch that when the phone was announced it was pointless, everyone knew everything about the product before Google could get their "squeaky-clean car salesman who smiles after every word" on stage. Plus, since everyone knew what the phone was all about, there was absolutely ZERO applause.

So after Mr. Clean finished saying something we already knew, there would be about 15 seconds of pure silence, while he just stood on stage like :

So.

Google could NOT make a fool of themselves this time around. So they thought, they thought long and hard, until June 11th that is, then they set their plan in action.

It worked.

As much as we hate Google for being smart and spoiling the fun, it worked. We know what it looks like, from them. And as much as you might think, "Well if we know what it looks like then its the same situation as the Pixel 3, we'll know everything before they launch it!" Well Mr. Privileged, no.

They messed up with the Pixel 3 because they released nothing but the leaks showed everything. By officially showing us the device, that means they are officially giving us information, which means they can keep back all of the surprises they want.

The End, ha.

But a second leak showed that their keeping the notch, rip.
